CONFERENCE OPENER
Emporia State will travel to Kearney, Nebraska for the opening match of MIAA play on Friday, September 22. Sunday, September 24 the Hornets will face Fort Hays State in Hays, Kansas.

THE COACHES
Bryan Sailer is 44-55-18 in his seventh year at Emporia State and is the winningest coach in program history. He has a career record of 103-78-20 that includes  four years at the community college level. He is 2-5-1 against Kearney and 1-7-3 against Ft. Hays State.
Chloe Roberts is in her first season as head coach at Nebraska Kearney.
Blake Reynolds is in his first season as head coach at Ft. Hays State.

LAST TIME OUT
Emporia State lost in a 3-2 battle against Ft. Hays. The Tigers controlled the first half with with two goals before the end of the period from Eden Stoddard. The Hornets fought back and tied the match late in the second half on goals from Tanna Bennefiel and Erica Self within a minute of each other. The Tigers threw the final blow in the 84th minute of the match when Jasmine Beaulieu scored an unassisted goal to seal the match.

ABOUT THE HORNETS
Emporia State is 4-2-0 on the season. The Hornets have outscored their opponents 9-6. The Hornets only losses on the season have been decided by one goal. The Hornets fell 1-0 to Augustana in a double overtime battle and to Ft. Hays State in a 3-2 match in which the Hornets late comeback fell short. The Hornets are led by Ashlynn Summar and Kennedy Hoffman each with two goals. Ashton Taylor, Shelby Keyes, Tanna Bennefiel and Erica Self each have 1 goal. Bethany Reeves has started all six matches in goal. She has recorded two shutouts and has 26 saves.

ABOUT NEB. KEARNEY
Nebraska Kearney is 3-2-1 on the season with a home record of 2-0-1. The Lopers have outshot their opponents 54-46 and have been outscored 4-5 on the season. Kearney has had three players score, led by Megan Cook with two goals while Megan Merkel and Kaitlyn Pawloski each add one.

SERIES HISTORY
This will be the ninth meeting between Emporia State and Neb. Kearney. Kearney leads the series 5-2-1.

LAST TIME AGAINST THE LOPERS
The last meeting between Emporia State and Kearney was October 30, 2016. The Hornets lost the match 1-0 to the Lopers on a goal from Tori Weber in the 89th minute of the match.

ABOUT FT. HAYS STATE
Fort Hays is 3-1-2 on the season. The Tigers have outshot their opponents 67-56 and outscore them 11-3 on the season. Fort Hays has had five players score, led by Eden Stoddard with five goals, Catalina Hernandez with two, and Darby Hirsch, Alexa Franks, Jasmine Beaulieu and Silvana Romero each with one. Kristen Thompson has 16 saves and has recorded two shutouts.

SERIES HISTORY
This will be the 12th meeting between Emporia State and Fort Hays State. The Tigers lead the series 7-1-3 with the Hornets lone win coming last year.

LAST TIME AGAINST THE TIGERS
The Hornets fell 3-2 to the Tigers on September 17, 2017 in Emporia.
