Bethany Reeves posted a shutout through regulation for the third time in four games for the Hornets with a season high eight saves before the Vikings Rebekah Thoresen scored on a rebound goal 2:11 into the second overtime.
Reeves had her streak of 266:13 scoreless minutes broken by the golden goal as the Hornets dropped to 3-1 on the season.
Emporia State will head to Topeka, Kan. on Friday, September 15 to take on Washburn in the first edition of the Turnpike Tussle this year.
