February 8, 2017-The #11 Lady Hornets put five players in double figures as they defeated Northwest Missouri 86-48 in Maryville, Mo. With the win Emporia State improved to 20-3 on the season, their 15
th straight 20 win season.
The Lady Hornets jumped out to a 10-3 lead and never trailed in the game. Emporia State led 23-12 at the quarter and had a 40-20 lead at the half. The Lady Hornets shot 50% from the fiel din the opening 20 minutes while holding the Bearcats to 29.7% shooting. Emporia State held the leading three-point shooting team in the MIAA entering the game to no three-pointers on seven attempts in the first half.
Emporia State would build their lead to 39 points midway through the fourth quarter before settling for the 37 point win.
Jacee Kramer led Emporia State with 15 points and was joined in double figures by Addie Lackey with 14 and Kyrstie Miller, Kelly Moten and Jessica Wayne with 11 points each. A total of 12 Lady Hornets scored in the contest. Kathryn Flott had a game high ten rebounds. As a team Emporia State shot 51.5% from the field and 52.9% from behind the arc while holding the Bearcats to 32.1% from the field and just two of 15 from beyond the three-point line.
The Lady Hornets are back in action on Saturday afternoon when they travel to Missouri Western. Tip-off from the MWSU Fieldhouse in St. Joseph, Mo. is set for 2:00 p.m.
NOTES
Emporia State's string of 15 straight 20 win seasons is the longest active streak in the nation.
Kathryn Flott's ten rebounds give her 804 in her career and moves her past Stacy Humphrey (795 from 1992-96) for ninth on the Lady Hornet all-time list.
