September 30, 2016-Emporia State played the final 58 minutes a player down in a 3-1 loss to #23 Northeastern State on Friday night in Tahlequah, Okla.
Keeper Yadira Rivera was ejected at the 31:47 mark with two yellow cards during an incident that also saw Jaide Allenbrand and Emily Haselwood get yellows for the Hornets as well as Anastasia Robinson for the RiverHawks.
Northeastern State broke through two minutes into the second half on a header by Anastasia Robinson from Julia Mathis. The two switched roles when Mathis made it 2-0 at the 53:01 mark from Robinson. Kelsey McIntyre made it 3-0 on an unassisted goal in the 61
st minute.
Emporia State got on the board with 34 seconds left when Tiffany Jones scored off a deflection in the box.
For the game, Emporia State was out shot 18-11 with a 10-3 deficit in shots on goal.
The Hornets will be back in action on Sunday when they play at Central Oklahoma. Kick-off is set for 1:00 p.m. in Edmond, Okla.
