ON THE ROAD AGAIN
Emporia State will continue MIAA play with a pair of matches in Oklahoma. They will play #23 Northeastern State on Friday, Sept. 30 at 7:00 p.m. followed by Central Oklahoma on Sunday, Oct. 2 at 1:00 p.m.
 
LAST TIME OUT
Emporia State dropped two matches, both 1-0, at home against Neb.-Kearney and Fort Hays. The first conference game was against the Tigers, resulting in the Hornets beginning 0-1 in MIAA play.
Falling to 2-3-2 on the season, Emporia State lost 1-0 to Neb.-Kearney, the Lopers scoring the only goal with 57 seconds left in regulation. Emporia State out-shot Neb.-Kearney 21-12 in the game, earning eight corner kicks to the Lopers' one. Yadira Rivera had four saves during the game. Maddie Taylor had five shots, three on goal.
Emporia State gave up a goal just 6:11 into the match, allowing Fort Hays to win 1-0 in the MIAA opener for both teams. The Hornets and Tigers have now split the regular season series with the road team winning each game this year.
 
THE COACHES
Bryan Sailer is 34-48-18 in his sixth year at Emporia State and is the winningest coach in program history. He has a career record of 93-71-20 that includes coaching four years at the community college level. He is 3-3-0 against Northeastern State and 0-2-2 against Central Oklahoma.
Chase Wooten is 68-35-11 in his career. He is in his seventh season at Northeastern State. He is 2-3 against Emporia State.
Mike Cook is 265-117-28 in his 18th year at Central Oklahoma. He is 4-0-2 against Emporia State.
 
SCOUTING THE HORNETS
Emporia State is 2-4-2 on the season but have out-scored their opponents 7-6. Maddie Talylor, Tanna Benefiel, Maria Walden, Jacki Martinek, Elizabeth Andersag, Nicole Dietrich and Emily Haselwood each have a goal on the season. Rivera has played an MIAA high 770:55 minutes in goal this year allowing only six goals. Rivera is fourth in the conference with a .850 save percentage.
 
SCOUTING THE RIVERHAWKS
Northeastern State is ranked 23rd in the nation and is 8-0-0 on the season, 1-0-0 in the MIAA.

This will be the seventh meeting between Emporia State and Northeastern State. The all-time series is tied at 3-3-0.
 
LAST TIME AGAINST NSU
Emporia State improved to 6-3-0 on the season with a 2-0 shutout of Northeastern State. Ally Taylor gave Emporia State a 1-0 lead in the 38th minute when she took a ball around a defender on the right side of the goal and booted it into the upper left hand corner from ten yards out. Rivera had five saves in her fourth shutout of the season.
 
SCOUTING THE BRONCHOS
Central Oklahoma is 5-2-1 on the season, 1-0-0 in MIAA play after defeating Southwest Baptist 3-1.
 
SERIES HISTORY
This will be the seventh meeting between Emporia State and Central Oklahoma. The Bronchos lead the all-time series 4-0-2, having both losses to Sailer.
 
LAST TIME AGAINST UCO
Playing in their first overtime match of 2015, Emporia State dropped a 4-3 decision to Central Oklahoma. UCO got on the board first with a goal in the 20th minute. Emporia State answered with a Kelsey Wakefield goal from Amelie Heun in the 28th minute. The Bronchos quickly got back on top with another goal 17 seconds later to take a 2-1 lead. Wakefield scored her second goal of the game for Emporia State with 2:53 left in the first half. After another Broncho goal, Jacki Martinek tied the game at 3-3 with just under 30 minutes remaining in regulation with an assist from McKenzie Koch.
 
UP NEXT
Emporia State returns home for a four game home stand starting with Southwest Baptist on Friday, Oct. 7 at 3:00 p.m. at the ESU Pitch. On Sunday, Oct. 9 the Hornets will host Missouri Southern at 2:00 p.m.
