September 25, 2016-Emporia State gave up a goal just 6:11 into the match and Ft. Hays State was able to make it hold up in a 1-0 win by the Tigers in the MIAA opener for both teams.
The Tiger's Eden Stoddard put the ball past Hornet keeper Yadira Rivera from the left side of the goal off a pass from Kelsey Steffens with 38:49 left in the first half for the only goal of the game.
Emporia State and Ft. Hays State have split the regular season series with the road team winning each game this year.
The Hornets are on the road to Oklahoma this weekend as they take on Northeastern State on Friday in Tahlequah, Okla. and Central Oklahoma on Sunday in Edmond.
