TURNPIKE TUSSLE RESULTS IN 1-1 TIE FOR EMPORIA STATE SOCCER

Hornets now 2-2-2 on the season

Box Score September 20, 2016 - A tie game was the result of the Turnpike Tussle on Tuesday for Emporia State soccer against Washburn. The Hornets are now 2-2-2 on the season.

REGULATION
The Ichabods had seven shots in the first period compared to the Hornets three. Olivia Stovall had the single goal for Washburn at the 32:39 mark. Emporia State seemed to control the second half, having eight shots and six corner kicks to Washburn's none. The Hornets would score at the 57:23 mark from a corner kick, scored by Emiley Haselwood and assisted by Maddie Taylor.

OVERTIMES
In the two overtimes there was a total of one shot, coming from Emporia State. The Hornets also had the single corner kick in overtime.

THE NUMBERS
MIAA Goalie of the Week, Yadira Rivera had seven total saves in the game, five coming from the second half. Maria Walden had three shot attempts followed by Elizabeth Andersag with two.

The Hornets will continue their home game stand on Friday, Sept. 23 against Nebraska-Kearney. Kick off will be at 4:00 p.m. at ESU Pitch.
