#10 HORNETS FIGHT FOR WIN AGAINST BRONCHOS

BJ Dean with two two-run homers totaling four RBI

April 2, 2016 - After trailing 6-0 in the second inning, the #10 Hornets fought back to win 10-8 against Central Oklahoma Saturday afternoon. BJ Dean had two two-run homers, making that his third homerun in two games. 

HORNETS CLOSE GAP
Emporia State closed the gap 6-3 in the bottom of the second inning. Starting off the Hornet bats, Dalton Wheat tripled to right field. BJ Dean followed with one of his homeruns to bring in two runs and put the Hornets on the board. Two batters later, Alex White singled through the middle, allowing Tucker Perkins to score the Hornets third run. 

HORNETS TIE IT UP
Another three run inning in the bottom of the third tied the game. Daniel LaMunyon put in work stealing second, advancing to third on a ground ball, and scoring on a wild pitch. With the bases loaded, Alex White singled up the middle, allowing Perkins and Dean to score and tie the game 6-6. 

HORNETS TIE IT AGAIN
In the seventh inning, Central Oklahoma took the lead 8-6, but the Hornets answered with two runs of their own. Daniel LaMunyon singled to third, then stealing second base. BJ Dean had his second homerun of the game, again tying the game 8-8, going into the eighth. 

HORNETS TAKE THE LEAD
The Bronchos went scoreless in the top of the eighth before the Hornets took their first lead of the game. Right off the bat, Levi Ashmore and Wade Hanna each singled to put two runners on base. Evan Koehler then singled up the middle, bringing in Ashmore to take the lead 9-8. Dalton Wheat singled to second, allowing Hanna to score and expanding the Hornets lead 10-8. Garrett Brummett allowed only one hit in the ninth inning to secure the game for the Hornets. 

THE NUMBERS
BJ Dean went two for three with three runs scored and four RBI. Tucker Perkins with two for two with two runs scored, while Alex White went two for four with three RBI. Levi Ashmore and Dalton Wheat both hit two for five. Garrett Brummett pitched two innings with three strikeouts to pickup the win and improve to 3-1 on the season. 

UP NEXT 
The #10 Hornets will face Central Oklahoma for the final game of the series on Sunday April 3. First pitch will be at 12:00 p.m.
