#30 HORNETS WITH 23-4 WIN OVER LINCOLN

Seven Hornets with two or more hits

March 4, 2016 - The #30 Hornets improved to 11-3, 4-0 in the MIAA Friday afternoon with a 24-3 win over Lincoln - Mo. This is the first time Emporia State has scored 20 or more runs in three straight games in school history.

RIGHT OFF THE BAT
Emporia State started and ended strong, having five runs on four hits in the bottom of the first inning. The Hornets would have at least one hit in every inning except the fourth. Emporia State scored another five runs in the second, two runs in the third, and 12 runs in the sixth.

HOT BATS
As a team, the Hornets had a .548 batting average with seven players with two or more hits. Levi Ashmore led the Hornets hitting four for six with four runs scored and three RBI. Daniel LaMunyon went three for four with four runs scored. BJ Dean went two for three with two runs scored. Derek Francis, Evan Koehler, and Taylor Steen each went two for four, Francis with two RBI, Koehler and Steen with three RBI each. Ryan McBroom went two for five with two runs scored and two RBI. Dalton Wheat also had two RBI. Tyler Stubblefield allowed only one hit, one run and had five strike outs through the first four innings, picking up the win to improve to 3-0.

The #30 Hornets will continue the series against Lincoln - Mo. on Saturday, March 5 at Glennen Field in the Trusler Sports Complex. First pitch will be at 1:00 p.m.
