February 7, 2016 - The #38 Hornets claimed the series over #31 Colorado State - Pueblo Sunday afternoon with a 3-0 win. Nathan Gieber had seven strikeouts and Jordan Plank had five strikeouts against the Thunderwolves.
SCORELESS UNTIL THE FOURTH
The game was tied 0-0 until the bottom of the fourth inning when Dalton Wheat stole third, forcing the catcher to overthrow to send Wheat home. The Hornets wouldn't score again until Alex White singled to center field in the bottom of the seventh inning, sending Levi Ashmore home. Dalton Wheat would follow up with ground out to second, sending Taylor Steen in to score.
PITCHING STAFF
Gieber allowed three hits and no runs with seven strikeous through six innings pitched. Plank finished the game for Emporia State, allowing one hit and no runs with five strikeouts in three innings pitched.
BY THE NUMBERS
Levi Ashmore and Taylor Steen both went two for three on the day. The Hornets earned seven hits.
