December 8, 2016-The Emporia State men were held to a season low 59 points in their 69-59 loss at Neb.-Kearney on Thursday night.
The Hornets trailed by three at 24-21 with 5:32 remaining in the first half. The Lopers then went on a 9-2 run to go up ten points at 33-23 with 1:39 left in the half. Neb.-Kearney would take a 35-28 lead into the break.
Josh Pedersen hit a three-pointer to open the second half for Emporia State and cut the lead down to four points. Neb.-Kearney went on an 8-2 run to push the lead back to double digits at 43-33 with 14:46 left. They would push the lead up to 17 points with 6:09 left at 60-43. Emporia State ended the game with a 10-5 run to make the final score 69-69.
Brian Morton led the Hornets with 15 points and Pedersen added ten points and five rebounds. Tyler Jordan had a game high nine rebounds for the Hornets with four assists.
Emporia State is back in action on Saturday afternoon at Ft. Hays State. Tip-off from Gross Memorial Coliseum in Hays, Kan. is set for 4:00 p.m.
