EMPORIA STATE MEN FALL IN EXHIBITION ACTION AT ARKANSAS

Hornets outscored 94-44 on Friday night

November 4, 2016-Emporia State was forced into 30 turnovers that resulted in 42 points for Arkansas as the Hornets fell to the Razorbacks 94-44 on Friday night in Fayetteville, Ark.

The Hornets scored the first points of the game on a Brandon Hall layup 1:14 into the contest.  The teams traded buckets over the first three minutes of action with Emporia State leading 6-5 at the 17:20 mark of the half. Dustin Thomas put Arkansas ahead 7-6 with 16:46 left to ignite a 13-0 run. 

Emporia State was still within 12 points at 23-11 with 8:43 left after a Garin Vandiver three-pointer.  Arkansas then went on a 24-2 run to take control of the game as they led 49-16 at the half.  A 15-0 run early in the second half gave the Razorbacks a 50 point lead at 68-18 and they cruised to the finish.

The Hornets played 14 players and were led in scoring by freshman Malik McLemore with seven points. Brandon Hall and Jevon Taylor both added six points.  Garin Vandiver had four rebounds for Emporia State.

Arkansas was led by Daryl Macon with 20 points as five Razorbacks reached double figures.

The Hornets are back in action on Sunday, November 6 when they take on #3 Kansas.  Tip-off from Allen Fieldhouse is set for 7:00 p.m.
