November 6, 2016-After turning the ball over 30 times and giving up 42 points off those turnovers in a loss to Arkansas on Friday, Emporia State took better control of the ball in a 104-62 loss at #3 Kansas on Sunday evening in Allen Fieldhouse.
A Garin Vandiver three-pointer out of the first media timeout pulled the Hornets into an 11-11 tie at the 15:16 mark. Kansas then went on a 23-2 run to take control of the game. The Jayhawks size played big factor in the game with Kansas outscoring Emporia State 56-16 in the paint during the game.
Duncan Fort led the Hornets in scoring off the bench with ten points. Brandon Hall had nine points and six assists with no turnovers while Garin Vandiver added nine points on three of eight shooting from beyond the three-point line. Emporia State played 15 players with everyone either scoring or getting a rebound.
The Hornets will open the regular season on November 12 against the University of Sioux Falls in Sioux Falls, S.D. Tip-off in the Stewart Center is set for 8:00 p.m. on Saturday night.
