PENALTY KICK COSTS EMPORIA STATE SOCCER IN LOSS TO #4 CENTRAL MISSOURI

Second half PK is difference in 1-0 loss for Hornets

October 14, 2016-Emporia State played #4 Central Missouri scoreless through the first 48:17 of the match before a penalty kick provided the difference maker in a 1-0 Hornet loss on Friday afternoon on the ESU Pitch.

The Hornets outshot the Jennies 7-5 in the first half with a 4-1 advantage in shots on goal. 

The Jennies were the beneficiaries of a handball in the box with 41:43 left in the match. UCM's Jada Scott put the ball past Emporia State keeper Yadira Rivera for her fifth goal of the season.  The goal broke a string of 347:42 in which the Hornets had not been scored on.

The loss snapped a three match winning streak for the Hornets, who are back in action on Sunday, October 16 when they take on Lindenwood.  Kick-off for the Senior Day match is set for 2:00 p.m. on the ESU Pitch.

NOTES
With the PK goal, the Hornets have still not been scored on in the regular flow of play while playing at full strength over the last 475:26 - since the first half of the FHSU match on September 25.  Emporia State gave up three goals while playing a person down to Northeastern State on September 30.
