#9 LADY HORNETS DEFEAT NWMSU 96-54

Kelly Moten with 25 points, five assists, five steals, and five rebounds

January 13, 2016 - The #9 Lady Hornets defeated Northwest Missouri 96-54 at home on Wednesday night. Kelly Moten moved up to 26th on Emporia State's career scoring list with 25 points against the Bearcats.

BEHIND EARLY
The Lady Hornets fell behind by as many as six points to the Bearcats early in the first quarter. Emporia State then went on an 11-1 run to lead 19-16 with 2:31 left in the first quarter. The Lady Hornets ended the quarter on a Kyrstie Miller three pointer as time ran out to lead 24-18. There were six lead changes in the first quarter.

BIG TIME RUN
The Lady Hornets took charge during the second quarter outscoring the Bearcats 27-4 over the final 8:11. Kelly Moten ended the quarter with a buzzer beating shot from the Power E at midcourt. Going into the locker room at half time, the Lady Hornets had three players in double digits. Kelly Moten had 14 points with Sandra Ngoie and Addie Lackey added ten a piece. Emporia State shot 58.3% from the field in the first half and went five for nine from three point range.

FINISHING STRONG
The Lady Hornets finished the game shooting 51.5% from the field. Emporia State outrebounded Northwest Missouri 39-25, earning ten offensive rebounds. Kelly Moten ended the game with 25 points, five assists, five rebounds, and five steals shooting 11 for 16 from the field. Moten now sits 26th on ESU's Career List in scoring with 1,043 points, passing Kristie Nelson-Lackey (1,028 from 1986-90). Sandra Ngoie earned a double-double with 19 points and 11 rebounds, while Addie Lackey added another 18 points. Kyrstie Miller had ten points and eight rebounds, shooting three for three from beyond the arc.
