September 27, 2015-Emporia State got back to its winning ways with a 3-1 victory at Lindenwood on Sunday afternoon. With the win the Hornets improve to 5-3 overall and even their MIAA record at 1-1.
DOUBLE TROUBLE
McKenzie Koch scored a pair of goal for the Hornets off direct kicks. She gave Emporia State the lead with her first goal with 9:37 left in the first half and then wrapped up the scoring on another direct kick with just 18 seconds left in the match.
KEEP ON SCORING
Amelie Heun scored what proved to be the game winner with 12:43 left in the match to give Emporia State a 2-0 lead at the time. It was her eighth goal of the season and moves her into a tie for third in single season goal at Emporia State with ten matches left in this season. She is tied with Melodie Zdanek who scored eight goals in both 2004 and 2005. Her next goal will tie her with Brandie Booth for second on the Emporia State single season list with nine scored in 2003. Booth holds the school record with 17 goals scored in the 2004 season.

The Hornets return to Emporia next weekend to start a four match home stand. Emporia State will start the home stand with a match against Northeastern State on Friday night. Kick-off from the EHS Pitch is set for 7:00 p.m.
