September 11, 2015-Emporia State posted its second straight shutout and ran their string of scoreless to 253:27 with a 2-0 win at Wayland Baptist on Friday afternoon. It is just the second time the Hornets have opened a year with three straight wins.
KEEP SCORING
MIAA Offensive Player of the Week Amelie Heun started things for the Hornets with a goal just 6:37 into the match. Grace Linton made it 2-0 when she scored on a one on one move in the 35th minute.
KEEP THEM FROM SCORING
The two goals were more than enough for last year's MIAA Goalkeeper of the Year Yadira Rivera as she posted her second straight shut out of the year and 18th shut out of her career. The Hornet defense helped her out allowing only six shots total and just one on goal in the match.
ACROSS TEXAS
The Hornets will now travel nearly 400 miles across Texas to take on Texas A&M-Commerce on Sunday afternoon. Kick-off on September 13 is set for 11:00 a.m. in Commerce, Texas.
