STARTING OUT FRESH
Emporia State opened the year with two wins in the MIAA/GAC Challenge in St. Joseph Missouri and looks to continue the winning streak in Texas this weekend. This year's Hornets return ten players after graduating four key players last year. The Hornets have 12 new players this year, all of which are freshmen.
LAST TIME OUT
Emporia State posted a shutout as they improved to 2-0 on the season with a 3-0 win over East Central (Okla.) at the MIAA/GAC Challenge in St. Joseph, Mo. It is the second straight season the Hornets have opened the year with two straight wins and just the third time in school history.
THE COACHES
Bryan Sailer is 25-36-15 two games into his fifth year at Emporia State and is the winningest coach in program history. He is 11-8-6 over his last 25 matches dating back to last year. This will be his first meeting with Wayland Baptist since becomming head coach of Emporia State.
Shiloh Posey is the head coach for Wayland Baptist. He has been with the Pioneers since 2007 and lead the team to the school record for wins in 2013 with 13 wins.
Neil Piper has been with the Lions since 1998 and holds a record of 198-111-30 as head coach
SCOUTING THE HORNETS
The Hornets have had four different scorers in the first two games of the season. The Hornets have attempted 39 goals to their opponents 16 and have outscored opponents 6-1 this year. MIAA Player of the Week Amelie Huen is the leading scorer for the Hornets with three goals, followed by Jacki Martinek, Grace Linton, and Jaide Allenbrand each with one goal.
SCOUTING THE PIONEERS
Wayland Baptist is 0-2 this season so far but will be looking to turn their luck around against the Hornets. The Pioneers dropped their first two games by two and one goals while scoring in both games. They returned 14 players from last season. Wayland Baptist has attempted 23 shots to their opponents 40 in the first two games of the season and have been outscored 6-3 in those games. The Pioneers have had three players score; Jodian Morris, Jessica Bell, and Julia Bianchi all have one goal each.
SERIES HISTORY
This will be the first meeting between the two teams in head coach Bryan Sailers history at Emporia State.
SCOUTING THE LIONS
Commerce returns 16 players from the 2014 season, when the team went 16-5-1. The Lions bolstered the roster with eight newcoming freshman in 2015. The Lions have attempted 20 shots to their opponents 24 with 1-0 decisions in both their win and loss. Savannah Grasser is the Lions player with a goal this season.

Emporia State will taek on Washburn in the Turnpike Tussle on Friday, September 18 before making their home debut on Sunday, September 20. The Hornets will travel to Topeka, Kansas on September 18 to take on Washburn before settling in for their first home game against Fort Hays State on September 20.
