April 26, 2015- Emporia State Baseball wins final game of regular season against Pittsburg State.
Pittsburg State got off to a 1-0 lead after the first inning, and then added 3 unearned runs in the top of the third inning. Emporia State came back scoring 2 runs in the 3rd and 3 runs in the 4th inning to take the lead 5-4 and added another run in the 6th inning. Pittsburg State scored 4 unearned runs in the top of the 6th inning to give the Gorillas a 8-6 lead. Dean Long hit a two run home run, his second of the day, for The Hornets to tie the score at 8. Jonny Hodges singled in the top of the 9th and came around to score the winning on a hit by Jordan Hodges.  Â
The Hornets totaled five errors on the game while the Gorillas added three errors of their own. Both team had 10 hits a piece.
Long hit his 19th and 20th homeruns of the season and Price Jacobs hit his 7th.Â
Shane Davies got the win for the Hornets, going 2.0 innings allowing one hit with 1 walk. Shawn Talkington picked up his 9th save of the season for The Hornets.
Matt Standlee got the loss for The Gorillas, he went 1.1 innings gave up five hits and three runs.
The Hornets are back in action Thurday, April 30, 2015 at 6 p.m. at Glennen Field in the first round of the MIAA Tournament. Â
