March 20, 2015-Emporia State had the bases loaded four times in nine innings but could only score three runs in a 12-3 loss at Northeastern State on Friday afternoon. The Hornets stranded 14 runners and were a collective zero for six with the bases loaded.
Emporia State scored a single run in the second on doubles from Wade Hanna and Justin Harris to cut the RiverHawks lead to 2-1. Northeastern State scored four runs in the third and five in the fourth to take an 11-1 lead. Price Jacobs and Hanna hit back to back home runs to lead off the fifth but that would be the last score for the Hornets as they fell 12-3.
Hanna was four for five with a double and a homer but only had one RBI and two runs scored. Garrett Brummet suffered is first loss, giving up six runs on five hits in 2.2 innings pitched.
The two teams will continue their series with a double header on Saturday in Tahlequah,Okla. First pitch is set for 1:00 p.m.
