March 14, 2015- Emporia State Softball extendeds winning streak against Washburn to 37 games, with a pair of victories on Saturday.
In the first game of the double header, Emporia State defeated Washburn 6-4. The Hornets were lead by Jacie Stephens, who had three hits and three RBI's. Brenda Novelo and Jessica Gragg each hit a homerun in the game.
Kelsee Henry picked up the win for the Hornets, her third of the season. Henry went 6.1 innings allowing seven hits, four walks, and three strikeouts. Kaitlyn Caston recorded her first save of the season. Taylor Kemp got the lose for the Ichabods, she went 4.0 innings giving up eight hits, four earned runs and three batters walked.
The Hornets won the second game of the double header 12-1. The Hornets got off to a quick start, scoring five runs in the first inning and four in the second inning, giving them a 9-1 lead after two. Stephanie Goodwin, two run, and Hannah Weingertner, three run, each hit homeruns in the game.
Eryn Stockman recorded the victory for the Hornets. She went 5.0 innings allowing seven hits and 0 earned runs with two K's. Samantha Carson got the lose for Washburn. Carson went .2 innings giving up eight hits and five earned runs.
The Hornets are back in action Tuesday, March 17, 2015 when they face Southeastern Oklahoma State in a double header starting at 10 AM at Trussler Sports Complex.
