February 14, 2015-Four Lady Hornets scored in double figures as #9 Emporia State defeated Central Oklahoma 80-67 on Saturday afternoon in White Auditorium.
The Lady Hornets used a 12-0 run to turn a four point deficit into an eight point lead with 10:01 left in the first half. Despite going two for 14 from the three-point line in the opening 20 minutes, Emporia State shot 60% from inside the arc on the way to a 40-27 lead at the break.
The Bronchos closed to within 53-51 with 8:42 left in the game when the Lady Hornets went on an 8-2 run to take back control of the game. Emporia STate would hit seven of eight free throws in the final 1:03 to push the final score to 80-67.
Kelly Moten led Emporia State with 14 points and six rebounds and was joined in double figures by Kathryn Flott with 12, Addie Lackey with 11, and Jacee Kramer with ten points. Kyrstie Miller only had four points but had eight rebounds, five steals and three blocks for Emporia State.
The Lady Hornets are back in action on Thursday, Feb. 19 when they travel to Neb.-Kearney. Tip-off from the Health & Sports Center is set for 5:30 p.m.
