#13 LADY HORNETS START FINAL ROAD TRIP WITH WIN AT UNK

Three Lady Hornets in double figures

February 19, 2015-Merissa Quick scored 20 points and moved into the top ten in career scoring as the #13 Lady Hornets defeated Neb.-Kearney 73-57 on Thursday in Kearney, Neb.

The Lopers jumped out to a 6-2 lead and led 8-4 before the Lady Hornets went on a 9-2 run to take the lead for good.  Emporia State would lead by as many as nine points in the first half before settling in for 36-29 lead at the break.

In the second half Neb.-Kearney closed the gap to one at 45-44 with 13:16 left.  Quick answered with a bucket in the paint and one of two free throws while Ashton Bruner hit two free throws to push the lead back to six with 12:01 left.  The Lady Hornets would use a 13-2 run to take a 71-54 lead with 2:13 left in the game.

Quick was joined in double figures by Kelly Moten with 16 points and Addie Lackey with 15 points. 

Emporia State is back in action on Saturday in their final regular season road game of the year.  The Lady Hornets travel to Topeka to take on Washburn. Tip-off for the Turnpike Tussle is set for 5 p.m. in Lee Arena.
