February 1, 2015-Kelly Moten scored 19 points to lead four Lady Hornets in double figures as #2 Emporia State defeated Neb.-Kearney 80-49 on Super Bowl Sunday in White Auditorium.
The Lady Hornets jumped out to an 8-2 lead in the first 3:17 and never trailed in the contest. The Lopers closed to within 23-19 with 9:53 left in the half when Emporia State went on a 17-0 run to take control of the game.
Emporia State had a 48-25 lead at the break and started the second half with an 8-2 run to go up 56-27 with 17:16 left in the game. The lead dropped to 20 points with 10:35 left when the Lady Hornets held the Lopers to just one field goal over the next 8:24 to take a 75-44 lead on a Whitney Gordon put back.
Moten had five assists to go with her 19 points. She was joined in double figures by Addie Lackey with 15 points and ten each from Jacee Kramer and Kelsey Barnwell.Â
The Lady Hornets will return to action on Wednesday when they play host to Washburn. Tip-off for the 94th edition of the Turnpike Tussle is set for 5:30 p.m. in White Auditorium.

Merissa Quick scored nine points with five rebounds and is now tied with Alli Volkens for 14th in career scoring at Emporia State with 1,360 points and passed Tara Holloway to move into seventh in career rebounding at Emporia State with 820 boards.
