EMPORIA STATE MEN'S BASKETBALL GETS WIN IN MIAA OPENER AT NEB.-KEARNEY

First MIAA opening win since 2010-11 season

December 3, 2015-Emporia State got 19 points each from Joshua Oswald and Brandon Hall as they rolled to a 79-68 MIAA opening victory at Neb.-Kearney on Thursday night.

ALMOST START TO FINISH
The Hornets turned in one of their most complete games of the season against the Lopers.  The teams felt each other out over the first seven minutes with neither team leading by more than four points.  With UNK ahead 17-15, Emporia State went on a 9-0 run to take a 24-17 with 9:05 left in the half and would never trail again.  The lead would stay between five and 12 points the remainder of the game and the Lopers would never have the ball down by fewer than six points.

FRESH FACES
A pair of players making their MIAA debut led the Hornet with 19 points each.  Joshua Oswald was seven of 13 from the field and had a team high five rebounds to go with his 19 points.  Brandon Hall was seven of 12 from the field for his 19 points and added seven assists.  Charles McKinney had seven points, five rebounds, four steals and three assists for the Hornets.

MOVING UP
Terrence Moore had 11 points and now has 1,242 points in his career.  He needs 24 points to tie John Hughes for 13th and 25 points to tie Wes Book for 12th on the Emporia State all-time scoring list.

BEEN AWHILE
This was the first win in an MIAA opener for the Hornets since a 70-65 win over Northwest Missouri on Dec. 1, 2010 and the first road win in a conference opener since an 86-81 win at Northwest Missouri on Dec. 2, 2009.

UP NEXT
The Hornets will stay on the road as they travel to Ft. Hays State on Saturday.  Tip-off from Gross Memorial Coliseum in Hays, Kan. is set for 4:00 p.m.
