#3 LADY HORNETS BOUNCE BACK WITH 90-69 WIN AT PITTSBURG STATE

Emporia State has four in double figures in win

December 19, 2015-The #3 Lady Hornets shot 54.8% from the field and put four players in double figures as Emporia State defeated Pittsburg State 90-69 on Saturday in Pittsburg, Kan.  The Lady Hornets will head into the holiday break at 9-2 overall, 3-2 in the MIAA.

HOT FROM THE START
The Lady Hornets put up 24 points in the first quarter and a season best 29 points in the second quarter to lead 53-39 at the half.  Emporia State shot 60.6% frm the field, including a blistering eight of 11 from behind the three point line in the opening 20 minutes.

NOT SO HOT THIRD
Emporia State opened the third quarter on a 7-2 run to go up 60-41 with 8:02 left in the third quarter.  The Lady Hornets would still lead by 19 with 4:16 left when the Gorillas closed the half on a 9-2 run as Emporia State took a 68-56 lead into the fourth.  The Lady Hornets ended up getting outscored 17-15 in the third quarter, the third straight game they have been outscored coming out of the lockerroom at half.

FINISHING STRONG
The Lady Hornets would come back and outscore the Gorillas 22-13 in the fourth. The lead would reach 23 points before settling into the final 90-69 win.

THE NUMBERS
Sandra Ngoie lead Emporia State with 22 points and ten rebounds while Kelly Moten added 20 points. They were joined in double figures by Kelsey Barnwell with 14 and Kathryn Flott with 12 points.  For the game the Lady Hornets shot 54.8% from the field and 54.2% from the three point line.

UP NEXT
The Lady Hornets will take the mandatory Division II Life in the Balance break and will return to action on Jan. 2 against Lincoln in White Auditorium.
