CONTINUED TRAVELEmporia State is set for a round trip through Nebraska and Western Kansas this weekend as they take on MIAA opponent Nebraska-Kearney on Friday, October 23 in Kearney, Nebraska followed by Fort Hays State on Sunday, October 17 in Hays, Kansas.

LAST TIME OUTAfter having their match in Bolivar called due to rain with Emporia State leading Southwest Baptist 2-1 last week, the Hornets posted a 2-0 win over the Bearcats in the rescheduled match on Tuesday on the campus of UMKC. Two Hornets scored in the victory over the Bearcats, Amelie Heun on a header with an assist from Jacki Martinek and Maria Walden on an assist from McKenzie Koch. The victory gave Emporia State their eighth win on the season.

THE COACHESBryan Sailer is 31-41-16 in his fifth year at Emporia State and is the winningest coach in program history. He is 12-10-3 over his last 25 matches dating back to last year. He is 1-2-1 agains Nebraska-Kearney and 0-4-3 against Fort Hays State.
John Maessner is in his fourth year as the Lopers head coach and has an overall record of 21-27-7 and 13-19-5 in the MIAA.
Craig Shaw is in his fifth year as the Tigers head coach and has an overall record of 47-38-7 with the Tigers.

SCOUTING THE HORNETSAmelie Heun is tied for first in the MIAA and 20th in the nation in both goals scored and total points. She is second on the list for Emporia State single season goals and points scored. Grace Linton has four goals while McKenzie Koch and Kelsey Wakefield each have three goals this season. The Hornets have had eight different scorers on 227 attempted shots to their opponents 196 while outscoring them 29-18 this year. Goal keeper Yadira Rivera has played and started in 12 of the Hornets 14 games. She has 61 saves and four solo and one combined shut outs on the season. She is sixth in the MIAA in saves.
SCOUTING THE LOPERSNebraska-Kearney is 4-7-3, 3-4-1 in the MIAA. They have been outscored 28-15 and outshot 180-124 on the season. Montanna Hosterman leads the Lopers offensive attack with four goals on the season.

SERIES HISTORYThis will be the fifth meeting between Emporia State and Nebraska-Kearney after the Lopers joined the MIAA in 2012. The Lopers lead the series 2-1-1.

LAST TIME AGAINST UNKEmporia State fought for 1-0 victory over Nebraska-Kearney in last year's matchup. This was a match that only saw 17 total shots and the Hornets lone goal was scored by senior Jordan Foutch in the 71st minute. The Hornets were then able to hold on for the win.

SCOUTING THE TIGERSFort Hays State is 7-7-0, 4-4-0 in the MIAA. They have outscored opponents 18-13 on the season. Cassi Moosburger and Kylee Loneker lead the Tigers in scoring each with three goals.

SERIES HISTORYThis will be the eighth meeting between Emporia State and Fort Hays State. The Tigers lead the series 4-0-3. The two teams met earlier this season in a non-conference matchup in which Fort Hays took a 3-2 victory in Emporia.

LAST TIME AGAINST FHSUEmporia State fell short of victory in a 3-2 loss to Fort Hays State. The Hornets Amelie Heun scored the matches first goal in the eighth minute and would again score late in the match to bring the Hornets within one. The tigers had three different scorers in the match. Hannah Smith on a penalty kick, Cassi Moosburger and Kylee Loneker each on assists from teammates.
