October 16, 2015-In a see saw match Emporia State battled Missouri Western to five sets before falling 25-22, 23-25, 25-22, 26-24, 15-10 on Friday at White Auditorium.
CLOSE MATCH
The match saw a total of 36 ties and 17 lead changes as none of the first four sets were decided by more than three points. The Hornets jumped out to a 13-6 lead to open the match and that would be the biggest lead by either team.Â
FIVE SETTERS
This was the fifth five set match for the Hornets and they have lost their last four. The last five set win for Emporia State was a 3-2 victory over South Dakota Mines on September 5 in Topeka.
THE NUMBERS
Shayla Cotman led the Hornets with 14 kills on .414 hitting with three blocks. She was joined in double figures by Josie Williams with 11 kills. Kelly Holden had 25 digs in the match. Emporia State was held to just .172 hitting on the night.
