February 8, 2104-The Emporia State men's basketball team fell for just the second time in 11 home games as they dropped a 65-59 decision to #23 Ft. Hays State. 

The Hornets scored the first six points of the game and held the Tigers scoreless for nearly four minutes to start the game.  Ft. Hays State would come back and take a 16-13 lead with 5:43 left in the half. Emporia State then went on a 10-1 run, with Paul Bunch scoring the final six points of the run, to take their second six point lead of the game. The Tigers ended the half on a 6-0 run of their own to send the teams to the break tied at 23-23.

Kaleb Wright scored the first five points of the second half to give Emporia State a 28-23 lead with 19:02 remaining.  The two played tight over the next 12 minutes as neither team took more than a three point lead until Craig Nicholson gave the Tigers a 48-44 lead on a three-pointer with 7:35 left.  Tyler Jordan hit a three-pointer for Emporia State with 3:14 left to tie the score at 56 but Dwayne Brunson scored the next six points for the Tigers.  Nicholson gave Ft. Hays their biggest lead of the night with a pair of free throws with ten seconds.

Bunch and Wright both scored 15 points for the Hornets while Terrence Moore had his first career double-double with 12 points and ten rebounds.

The Hornets will be back in action on Wednesday, Feb. 12 when they play host to Northeastern State.  Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. on Slaymaker Court in White Auditorium.
