February 19, 2014-The #7 Lady Hornets put six players in double figures led by Laura Patrick's 17 points in an 82-68 win over Neb.-Kearney on Wednesday night in White Auditorium.
Emporia State never trailed in the game, getting out to a 12-5 lead in the first five minutes. The lead reached 16 points with 6:37 left in the half before the Lady Hornets took a 48-38 lead into the locker room.
In the second half the Lopers cut the lead to seven at 71-64 with 6:36 left when the Lady Hornets went on a 9-0 run that matched their biggest lead of the game with 2:34 left.
Patrick had seven rebounds and four assists to go with her 17 points. She was joined in double figures by Kelly Moten with 14 points, Desiree Wylie and Rheanna Egli with 12 each, Merissa Quick with 11 and Kionna Kellogg with ten points. Quick and Wylie matched Patrick with seven rebounds.
The Lady Hornets will return to White Auditorium on Saturday night to take on Washburn on Senior Night. Seniors Rheanna Egli, Laura Patrick, Kionna Kellogg, Haley Parker and Desiree Wylie will all be honored prior to the game. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m.
NOTES
Quick passed Casey Cookson to move into 26th on the All-Time Lady Hornet scoring list with 1,021 points and needs eight points to move into the top 25 and pass Kristi Nelson-Lackey.
Quick had four blocks to move past Sheri Moore for third on the All-Time Lady Hornet blocked shot list with 188.
