January 22, 2014-The #2 Lady Hornets were held to their lowest point total in almost two years as they suffered their first defeat of the season 59-44 at Northeastern State. 

Emporia State never led in the game as Northeastern State jumped out to an 11-2 lead.  All four buckets during the run for the RiverHawks came with under ten seconds left on the shot clock.  The Lady Hornets ended the half on a 9-4 run to pull within 25-24 at the break.

Northeastern State opened the second half with a 9-1 run to take a 34-25 lead with 15:42 left in the game.  The Lady Hornets would not get within seven points the rest of the night as the RiverHawks built an 18 point lead with 4:20 left in the game. 

Desiree Wylie had nine points to lead Emporia State as no Lady Hornet reached double figures. Amber Vandiver had a game high ten rebounds, however the Lady Hornets only scored 16 second chance points off of 18 offensive rebouinds.

Emporia State is back in action on Sunday, January 26 when they return to Slaymaker Court at White Auditorium against Central Oklahoma.

NOTES:
The 44 points are the fewest by a Lady Hornet team since a 49-42 loss at Pittsburg State on Feb. 15, 2012. That Emporia State team advanced to the Sweet 16.
