January 22, 2014-The Emporia State men overcame a 13 point second half deficit to win their fourth straight game with a 72-67 win at Northeastern State.  The Hornets have won seven of their last nine games.

The Hornets led for much of the first half before the RiverHawks went on a 9-0 run to take a 25-20 lead with 5:44 left in the period.  They would score the final five points of the half and take a 39-28 lead into the locker rooms.

Emporia State came out and held Northeastern State without a field goal over the first 7:18 of the second half. They could only cut the lead to 44-42 as the RiverHawks hit five of six free throws to open the second frame. 

A Tyler Jordan layup gave the Hornets their first lead of the second half at 48-47 with 8:48 remaining.  The teams traded scores for the next 5:51 as their were five ties and four lead changes before Emporia State got back to back buckets from Gavin Brown and Kaleb Wright to take a 62-57 lead with 2:03 left.  The Hornets then hit eight of ten free throws to ice the win.

Terrence Moore led Emporia State with 17 points while Wright scored 16 and Paul Bunch added 11 points.  Bunch was five of six from the field and added a game high eight rebounds.

The Hornets are back in action on Sunday, January 26 against Central Missouri. Tip-off on Slaymaker Court in White Auditorium is set for 3:30 p.m.
