Hornets take 83-75 win over Pitt State

January 15, 2014-The Emporia State men put four players in double figures in an 83-75 win over Pittsburg State on Saturday night at White Auditorium.  It was the third straight win for the Hornets.

The first half saw six ties and 15 lead changes with Pitt State taking their largest lead of the night at 34-28 with 1:53 remaining.  The Hornets finished the half on an 8-0 run to take a 36-34 lead on Jay Temaat's three pointer with three seconds left.

The Gorillas retook the lead at 39-38 with 18:49 left when the Hornets went on a 13-2 run over the next 5:10 to take control of the game.  Emporia State took their biggest lead of the night at 16 points with 2:03 left on a pair of Terrence Moore free throws. An 8-4 run by the Gorillas over the final 33 seconds accounted for the final eight point spread.

Kaleb Wright lead all scorers with 21 points and a career high eight assists.  He was joined in double figures by Terrence Moore with 19 points, Jay Temaat with 12, and Gavin Brown with ten points.  Brown had 11 rebounds to post his second double-double in three games.

The next action for the Hornets will be in one week when they travel to Northeastern State on Wednesday, January 22.  Tip-off from Tahlequah, Okla. is set for 7:30 p.m.
