January 11, 2014-The #3 Lady Hornets put five players in double figures as they defeated #6 Central Missouri 80-67 on Saturday night at Slaymaker Court in White Auditorium.  It was Emporia State's third win over a ranked team this year and gives the Lady Hornets a 10-4 record all-time in White Auditorium over teams ranked in the top ten.

The Jennies used a 14-4 run in the first half to take a 19-9 lead with 12:24 remaining in the period.  It was the biggest deficit of the season for the Lady Hornets.  Emporia State used a 15-5 run of their own to tie the game at 26 with 5:22 left.  The Lady Hornets then scored the final four points of the first half to take a 35-31 lead into the locker rooms.

The Lady Hornets opened the second half with an 8-2 run to take a 43-33 lead with 15:40 left in the game.  The lead would reach 15 on three occassions in the second half before Emporia State settled in for the 80-67 victory.

Laura Patrick and Amber Vandiver shared team high honors with 16 points each while Merissa Quick and Kelly Moten each added 14 points and Desiree Wylie had her third double-double of the season with 12 points and ten rebounds.  Wylie and Vandiver both did their damage coming off the bench as the Lady Hornet reserves outscored the Jennies bench 36-12 on the night.  Haley Parker tied her career high with six assists and was a perfect four of four from the field for eight points.

BreAnna Lewis led the Jennies with 22 points and Revonnia Howard led Central Missouri with eight rebounds.

The Lady Hornets, who improved to 16-0 on the season, are back in action on Wednesday night when they play host to Pittsburg State.  Tip-off from Slaymaker Court in White Auditorium is set for 5:30 p.m.

NOTES:
This is the third longest winning streak in Emporia State history and the third best start in school history.
The Lady Hornets are now 60-41 all-time against top 25 teams and 24-9 in White Auditorium.
