January 11, 2014-Kaleb Wright scored 33 points and pulled down a career high 15 rebounds as the Emporia State men upset #24 Central Missouri 95-77 on Saturday night at Slaymaker Court in White Auditorium. It was the first win over a top 25 team by the Hornets since a 71-70 win over then #11 Central Oklahoma on November 25, 2011 in Bolivar, Mo.
The Hornets jumped out to a 9-2 lead to open the game and led by ten with 5:24 left in the first half. The Mules ended the half on a 5-0 run to trail 40-39 at the break.
UCM scored the first bucket of the second half to extend the run to 7-0 and take their first lead of the night. The teams traded scores until the Hornets went on a 16-5 run to take a 68-57 lead with 9:29 left in the game. The Mules would not get closer than seven points the rest of the night. An 8-0 run pushed the Hornets lead to 20 points at 94-74 with 1:11 remaining.
Wright passed the 30 point mark for the second time this year and had his first career double-double. He was joined in double figures by Terrence Moore with 19 points and Gavin Brown with 12 points. The Mules were led by Dillon Deck with 19 points.
