HISTORIC START

Emporia State will look to continue one of the best starts in the program's history today in a 2:00 p.m. kick off at the Emporia HS pitch.  With a 5-3-0 record the Hornets are over .500 after eight matches for the first time since the 2005 season. Emporia State plays its fourth straight home game and has shutout their last three opponents.

LAST TIME OUT

Emporia State defeated Southwest Baptist 1-0 Friday behind an Elizabeth High second half goal and seven saves from Goal Keeper Yadira Rivera. The win improved the Hornets MIAA record to 2-0-0.

THE COACHES

Bryan Sailer is 12-24-7 in his third season at Emporia State and ranks No. 2 on the Hornets all time win list for Women's Soccer coaches. Prior to coming to ESU he led Barton County Community College to a 59-23-2 overall record in four seasons. He led them to the KJCAA Championships during the 2008 season and was named Jayhawk Conference Coach of the Year after guiding Barton to an 18-4 record. He is 0-2-0 against the Jennies.

Lewis Theobald  is 100-19-14 in his 7th season at Central Missouri. He has a record of 10-0-0 against Emporia State.

SCOUTING THE HORNETS

The Hornets are 5-3-0 after winning their third straight game in Emporia. The Hornets will face their second nationally ranked opponent in 2013. Emporia State upset #19 Regis 2-1 in double overtime earlier in the season.  It was the first win over a nationally ranked opponent in the history of the Hornet soccer program. Tommi Bouknight leads the team with three goals. Rivera has a save percentage of .895 to rank fourth in the MIAA. 

KNOW THE FOE

The #14 ranked Jennies are 5-1-1 on the season and 3-0-0 in the MIAA after a 3-0 win Friday over Washburn. The win was the first road win for CMSU in 2013. In seven matches the Jennies have out scored their opponents 16-6. Hannah Moran leads the team in goals with six. Morgan Hartlzer owns a .773 save percentage in goal for the Jennies.

LAST TIME VS. CENTRAL MISSOURI

Carly Stanley and Alex Robbers accounted for the two goals scored in Central's 2-0 victory in Warrensburg, Mo. on September 22, 2012. Stanley, a senior forward from Olathe, Kan. has scored one goal in 2013.

SERIES RECORD

This is the 23rd meeting between Emporia State and Central Missouri. The Jennies lead the series 18-3-1. The Hornets last defeated Central  2-0 on October 23, 2005.
