First win over nationally ranked opponent in Hornet history

September 13, 2013-Tommi Bouknight scored in the second overtime to give Emporia State a 2-1 win over #19 Regis on Friday in Wheat Ridge, Colo.  It is the first win over a nationally ranked opponent in Hornet soccer history.

The Rangers scored first on a goal from Maison O'Neill with 9:59 left in the first half.  Jordan Foutch tied the score for the Hornets with 39:07 left in the game off a corner kick by Mallory Walden. 

Yadira Rivera had seven saves in the match as Emporia State was outshot 22-6 for the match.  She turned back three shots on goal in the last ten minutes as the Regis pushed up to try and win the game in regulation. 

Neither team had a shot on goal in the overtimes until Bouknight got behind the defense and beat the Ranger keeper one on one for the game winner with 4:16 left in the second extra frame.

The Hornets will stay in Colorado over the weekend and take on Metro State Sunday afternoon at noon (CT) in Denver.
