TRIO OF LADY HORNETS EARN ALL-MIAA HONORS

March 5, 2013-A trio of Lady Hornets earned All-MIAA honors as voted on by the league coaches. It brings the total number of All-MIAA honors for Emporia State to 68 since joining the conference in 1992 with 58 coming in the last 15 years.

Rachel Hanf earned second-team honors after averaging 12.5 points and 5.3 rebounds per game. She is ranked 34th in nation in three point field goal percentage and 92nd in made three-pointers. She is fifth in the MIAA in free throw percentage, sixth in made three pointers, 10th in three point percentage, and 15th in scoring. She was named MIAA Player of the Week on Feb. 4 after averaging a double-double for the week. She is ranked third all-time at Emporia State with 199 made three-pointers and is 21st in career scoring with 1,149 points. She was named MIAA Freshman of the Year in 2010 as she helped lead Lady Hornets to National Championship.

Laura Patrick was a third-team selection after averaging 14.6 points and 4.2 rebounds per game.  She is ranked 25th in the nation in three-point field goal percentage and 30th in made three-pointers. She is ranked fifth in scoring and made three pointers in the MIAA and is 8th in three-point percentage. She has reached double figures in 22 of 26 games this season.

Merissa Quick earned honorable mention after averaging 11.1 points and 6.6 rebounds per game.  She is ranked 26th in the nation in blocked shots. She is second in the MIAA in blocked shots, fourth in field goal percentage, 11th in rebounding, and 21st in scoring. She had a career high 20 rebounds against Washburn.

Emporia State has won 11 of their last 13 games to earn a bye into the MIAA Tournament Quarterfinals in Kansas City where they will play the winner of the game between Truman and Southwest Baptist. Tip-off for the Lady Hornets' 17th straight trip to the MIAA Tournament is set for 2:15 p.m. on Friday in Municipal Auditorium.
