DEJA VU  
The Lady Hornets and Lady Blues meet for the third time in 17 days in the first round of the NCAA Central Regional Tournament.  
 
THE COACHES
Jory Collins is 64-26 in his third year as the head coach of the Lady Hornets and has guided them to the MIAA Tournament Championship Game three straight years, with a win this season. He has nine wins against Top 25 teams. This is his 12th season on the Lady Hornet coaching staff and Emporia State has advanced to the NCAA tournament in 11 of those seasons. He is 2-1 in the NCAA Tournament. He is 5-5 against Washburn, 1-0 in the NCAA Tournament.
Ron McHenry is 342-70 in his 13th year at Washburn. He is 24-14 against Emporia State, 3-2 in the NCAA Tournament.

LAST TIME OUT
Merissa Quick scored 22 points to lead Emporia State to a 67-51 win over #13 Central Missouri in the MIAA Tournament Championship Game on Sunday afternoon. Quick was joined in double figures by Hanf with 17 points and Egli with ten points and seven assists.  Jocelyn Cummings led Emporia State with 11 rebounds. Keuna Flax and Nicole Caddell each had double-doubles for Central Missouri, but the rest of the team combined for just 20 points and 13 rebounds.Quick was named the Most Outstanding Player for the Tournament and was joined on the All-Tournament team by teammate Laura Patrick.

ABOUT THE LADY HORNETS
Emporia State is 21-8 on the year and were 13-5 in the MIAA.  This is the 15th trip to the NCAA Tournament for the Lady Hornets.  

ABOUT THE LADY BLUES
Washburn is 23-5 on the year and ranked #8 in the nation. They have won 15 straight in Lee Arena. The Lady Blues have won 12 of their last 14 games with both losses coming to the Lady Hornets. Emporia State is the only team to score more than 60 points against them in the last 21 games. The Lady Blues lead the MIAA in scoring defense, field goal percentage defense and rebound margin.

THE SERIES    
The Lady Hornets lead the all-time series 46-44. This is the 33rd straight game that at least one team has been ranked in the WBCA Top 25. They are the last two MIAA teams to win national championships, with Washburn taking the 2005 title and Emporia State winning in 2010. The Lady Hornets and Lady Blues have met five previous times in the NCAA Tournament, with Emporia State winning two of three in Lee Arena.

LAST TIME VS. WASHBURN
Emporia State advanced to the championship game of the MIAA Tournament for the third straight year with a 61-54 win over #9 Washburn. For the second time in the tournament Emporia State jumped out early, leading 9-0 and 15-2 in the first six minutes.  The Lady Hornets would never trail and never let the lead get below two possessions. Laura Patrick led Emporia State with 14 points including a four of five effort from behind the three-point line.

UP NEXT
The winner advances to the semifinals against either Minnesota State-Mankato or Arkansas Tech on Saturday night at 7:00 p.m.
