A NEW KIND OF LION  
The Lady Hornets take on MIAA newcomer Lindenwood to wrap up a brief two game home stand.
 
THE COACHES
Jory Collins is 56-24 in his third year as the head coach of the Lady Hornets and has guided them to the MIAA Tournament Championship Game in each of his first two seasons. He has seven wins against Top 25 teams. This is his 12th season on the Lady Hornet coaching staff and Emporia State has advanced to the NCAA tournament in ten of those seasons. This is his first meeting with Lindenwood.
Tony Francis is 42-36 in his third year at Lindenwood. This is his first meeting with Emporia State.

ABOUT THE LADY HORNETS
Emporia State is 13-6 on the year and 8-3 in the MIAA.  The Lady Hornets have won six straight and eight of their last nine games. They have won five straight MIAA games by at least ten points for the first time since Dec. 3-31, 2008.  
 
LAST TIME OUT
Laura Patrick had 25 points to lead five Lady Hornets in double figures as the Emporia State Lady Hornets defeated Lincoln 85-69 on Thursday night in White Auditorium. Patrick was nine of 13 from the field including a five of six effort from behind the three-point line for 25 points. She was joined in double figures by Merissa Quick with 15 points, Rachel Hanf with 13, and Desiree Wylie and Sarah Wood with 11 points each.  Wylie and Quick each had a game high eight rebounds.

ABOUT THE LIONS
Lindenwood is 4-16 overall and 1-11 in their first year as members of the MIAA. They are the only team in the MIAA allowing over 70.0 points per game on defense. The Lions are 1-8 away from St. Charles this season and 0-4 in MIAA road contests.  Their one MIAA win was an 81-77 win over fellow conference new comer Central Oklahoma on January 12 and they have dropped seven games since then. Julie Hlinak is the leading scorer for the Lions at 11.7 points per game.

THE SERIES    
This is the first meeting with Lindenwood. The Lady Hornets have had outstanding success in White Auditorium against teams in their first year in the MIAA. Emporia State has never lost a home game to a team in their first year in the league.

NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK
Ft. Hays State, Neb.-Omaha, Lincoln, Northeastern State, Central Oklahoma, Neb.-Kearney and Lindenwood have all joined the MIAA since Emporia State made their first trip through the league during the 1991-92 season.  The Lady Hornets have not lost a game in White Auditorium to a team in their first year in the league and are 7-2 against teams in their first year in the league, 5-0 in the first meeting of the year and 4-0 in White Auditorium.

UP NEXT
Emporia State is back on the road for a two game set beginning at Central Oklahoma on Wednesday, Feb. 13. Tip-off from Hamilton Fieldhouse in Edmond, Okla. is set for 5:30 p.m.
