Hornets post 71-64 win over Lincoln

February 7, 2013-Emporia State jumped out to a 14-0 lead and never trailed in a 71-64 win over Lincoln in White Auditorium.

The Hornets got three pointers from Chris Sights, Taylor Euler and two from Kaleb Wright to go with a layup from Paul Bunch in the first 2:58 to jump on top early.  The Blue Tigers cut the lead back to five at 20-15 on a couple of occassions before Emporia State settled into a 12 point half time lead.

In the second half Lincoln used an 11-0 run to cut the Hornets lead to just two points with 13:58 remaining.  Micah Swank and Terrence Moore then jump started a 10-0 run by the Hornets that gave them a 51-39 lead with 11:42 left.  The lead would reach 14 points again at 66-52 with 3:42 left before the Blue Tigers finished on a 12-5 run to make the final 71-64.

Wright was the only Hornet in double figures, finishing with 17 points, although Bunch, Sights, Euler and Moore all ended with nine points.  Gavin Brown had career highs of 13 rebounds and seven assists for the Hornets.

Emporia State is back in action on Saturday when they play MIAA newcomer Lindenwood.  Tip-off is set for 3:30 p.m. in White Auditorium.
