TURNPIKE TUSSLE TIME
Emporia State takes on Washburn in the final regular season home game for Taylor Euler, Chris Sights and Andre Phillips in White Auditorium.

THE COACHES
Shaun Vandiver is 21-30 in his second season at Emporia State. A first round draft pick by the Golden State Warriors in 1991 spent ten years as an assistant coach at the NCAA Division I level. As a player he led Hutchinson CC to the 1988 NJCAA National Championship before earning first-team All-Big 8 honors at Colorado. He is 0-2 against Pittsburg State. He is 0-4 against Washburn.
Bob Chipman is 739-302 in his 34th season at Washburn. He is 51-23 against Emporia State.

LAST TIME OUT
The Emporia State men led 60-58 with 2:50 left but Northeastern State converted a three-pointer and was six of six from the free throw line in the final 2:25 to pull out a 67-62 win over the Hornets. The RiverHawks scored the first four points of the second half and led until a Terrence Moore steal and dunk gave the Emporia State a 53-51 lead with 7:54 left. There were five lead changes and three ties the rest of the game. Moore led Emporia State with 13 points and three steals. Paul Bunch had 12 points, seven rebounds and seven blocked shots.

ABOUT EMPORIA STATE
The Hornets are 12-12 on the season, 7-9 in the MIAA and are currently eighth in the MIAA Tournament standings. Wins in the final two games would guarantee a first round MIAA Tournament home game for the Hornets.

SLAY’S COURT
The court at White Auditorium will be named Ron Slaymaker Court at half-time of the game.

ABOUT WASHBURN
The Ichabods are 18-6 on the year and 11-5 in the MIAA. They are 6-4 on opponents home courts this season. Washburn leads the MIAA in steals, turnover margin and assist to turnover margin. Will McNeill is second in the MIAA in scoring at 18.3 points per game and leads the league in steals at 3.0 per game.

SERIES HISTORY
According to Emporia State records this will be the 201st meeting between the two schools with Washburn holding a 101-99 advantage since the first meeting in 1905. The two teams have met every year since World War II. Washburn records indicate a 102-98 advantage for the Ichabods.

LAST TIME VS. THE ICHABODS
Emporia State connected on just eight of 21 free throws in a 61-54 loss at #8 Washburn in non-conference action in Lee Arena. Neither team led by more than seven points on the night with the Ichabods hitting that mark with just 3.2 seconds left. Taylor Euler led Emporia Staet with 17 points and tied his career high with four made three-pointers. Paul Bunch added his second double-double in four games with 14 points, ten rebounds and a game high three blocked shots.
