February 13, 2013-Central Oklahoma went ten of 16 from the three-point line in the second half to defeat Emporia State 83-69 on Wednesday night. It was just the third time this year the Hornets have been outscored from the field.
Emporia State led 5-2 when Central Oklahoma went on an 8-0 run to take the lead. The Bronchos pushed their lead to eight with 4:49 left in the half. The Hornets then went on a 13-5 run to tie the game at 33 with 5.1 seconds left in the period. Cal Andrews then hit three at the buzzer to give the Bronchos the lead going to the locker rooms.
UCO scored the first five points of the second half to go up 41-33 with 18:03 remaining. They had an 11 point lead when Gavin Brown hit a pair of free throws to pull the Hornets within 49-40 with 12:42 left. The Bronchos then hit three straight three-pointers to push their lead to 18 with 10:31 left in the game. Emporia State would cut it to 12 with 8:28 left when UCO hit three more three pointers in a 9-2 run to take a 69-50 lead and put the game away.
Taylor Euler led the Hornets with 16 points and Kaleb Wright added 15 points. Paul Bunch was five of six in the first half for ten points and only took two shots in the second half. He ended with eight rebounds while Gavin Brown led Emporia State with nine boards and added eight points.
The Hornets are back in action on Saturday when they travel to Missouri Southern. Tip-off from the Leggett & Platt Center in Joplin, Mo. is set for 7:30 p.m.
