December 21, 2013-The #3 Emporia State Lady Hornets ran their record to 11-0 with a 77-56 win over Missouri Southern in White Auditorium on Saturday afternoon.  With the win Emporia State has tied the tenth longest winning streak in school history.

Missouri Southern jumped out early and put the Lady Hornets in their biggest deficit of the season with an 8-3 lead just over three minutes into the game.  Emporia State responded with a 7-2 run of their own to tie the game at 10-10 with 11:11 left in the half.  There were four lead changes and four ties the rest of the half before the teams settled into a 24-24 tie at the break.

After Alexis Fitzpatrick hit a three to open the second half for the Lions, the Lady Hornets went on a 10-1 run to take the lead for good.  It was a four point game at 34-30 when Laura Patrick scored 12 points in a span of 2:42 to give the Lady Hornets a 46-37 lead with 14:13 left. The lead would reach 23 before Emporia State finished off the 77-56 win to improve to 3-0 in the MIAA.

Patrick ended the game with 21 points, her third straight game with 21 while Kionna Kellogg had 12 points.  Amber Vandiver led all rebounders with 11 boards as the Lady Hornets outrebounded the Lions 45-24 on the day.

The Lady Hornets will be off for ten days until they return to Slaymaker Court in White Auditorium on December 31 against Baker. Tip-off for the matinee will be set for 1:30 p.m.
