November 30, 2013-St. Mary's Marvin Witt hit a jumper with .3 seconds left as the Emporia State men fell 70-68 on Saturday night in San Antonio, Texas.
The Hornets used a 13-3 run to take a 30-17 lead with 4:07 left in the first half. The Rattlers would then close the half on a 13-2 run of their own as Emporia State took a 32-30 lead into the break.
An 6-2 run in the first 1:58 gave Emporia State a 38-32 lead to open the second half. St. Mary's answered with a 7-0 run to retake the lead at 39-38 with 15:20 left. Neither team would take more than a four point lead the rest of the game as their were nine lead changes and 12 ties in the second half.
Kaleb Wright scored to force the final time at 68-68 with 16 seconds left before Witt's jumper sealed the win.
Paul Bunch scored a team high 13 points in 19 minutes before fouling out. Wright and Gavin Brown both added 12 points for the Hornets.
Emporia State will begin MIAA play on Saturday, December 7 at Northwest Missouri. Tip-off has been changed to 7:30 p.m. due to the Bearcat football team's home NCAA Playoff game.
