November 9, 2013 - Emporia State dropped a 93-50 exhibition game against 2013 NCAA Division I Final Four participant Wichita State in the regular season opener for the Shockers.

The Hornets, who had defeated Division I UMKC from the WAC on Friday afternoon in Kansas City, scored the first points of the game and trailed by just four midway through the opening frame.  The #16 Shockers then went on an 11-2 run to take a double digit lead at 26-13 with 7:35 left in the half. Another 12-2 run would push the lead to over 20 points before heading to the lockerrooms with WSU leading 49-26 at the break. The lead would steadily grow until the final score spread hit 43 points.

Terrence Moore led the Hornets with 15 points while Kaleb Wriight added 12 points. Paul Bunch, who had 20 points, eight boards and five blocks in the win over UMKC, played just 12 minutes against the Shockers.

Cleanthony Early scored 21 points for the Shockers who are coming off a 30-9 Final Four Season.

The Hornets on Sunday will play their third game in as many days. Emporia State opens regular season play with a 7:00 p.m. tip at Rockhurst.
