THRESHING IT OUT
Emporia State takes on Bethel in the final game before heading to Alaska for the GCI Alaska Invitational in Fairbanks.
LAST TIME OUT
Emporia State held Sterling to just 29.3% shooting in an 80-56 win last Thursday night. The Hornets dominated on the boards outrebounding the Warriors 56-31 on the night. The Hornets never trailed and used a 9-0 run to take a 12 point lead at 18-6 with 12:07 left in the first half. An 11-1 run pushed the lead to 19 with 6:16 left in the half and Sterling would not get within 13 points the rest of the night. Kaleb Wright had 15 points while Paul Bunch and Micah Swank each added ten for the Hornets. Gavin Brown had a career high 16 rebounds to go with six points and three assists.
THE COACHES
Shaun Vandiver is 25-32 as he starts his third season at Emporia State. A first round draft pick by the Golden State Warriors in 1991 spent ten years as an assistant coach at the NCAA Division I level. As a player he led Hutchinson CC to the 1988 NJCAA National Championship before earning first-team All-Big 8 honors at Colorado. This is his first meeting with Sterling.
Alonzo Jamison is 7-52 in his third season at Bethel. This is the first meeting with Emporia State for the former Kansas Jayhawk.

Emporia State has five players averaging more than eight points a game led by Paul Bunch at 12.7 points per game. Defensively the Hornets have held their opponents to just 31.1% shooting from the field while connecting at a 49.5% clip themselves.
