October 6, 2013 - Emporia State and Fort Hays State faced each other on the Emporia HS Pitch on Sunday and finished the day each with one point in the MIAA standings as the game ended in a 0-0 tie in double overtime.
The Hornets 5-4-2 overall and 2-1-2 in the MIAA were out shot by the Tigers 17 to 12 but had a 4-3 advantage in shots on goal. With the tie the Hornets finished a six-match home stand with a 3-1-2 record.
The wind was a factor for both teams as kicks into the wind were knocked down and players struggled to run down lead passes with the wind.
Emporia State goal keeper Yadira Rivera made three saves to register her sixth shutout of the season.
The Hornets will now play four straight road matches the first of which will be played in Maryville, Mo. against the Northwest Missouri Bearcats on October 11.
