January 30, 2013-For just the second time this season the Emporia State men were outscored from the field in an 81-58 loss at Nebraska-Kearney.
The game was tied at 6-6 when UNK went on an 8-0 to take the lead for good. The Lopers had a 30-21 lead with 4:39 left in the half when the Hornets went on a 7-0 run highlighted by three blocks by Paul Bunch. Neb.-Kearney recovered with an 8-1 run to go into the half up 38-29. The Hornets were outscored 43-29 in the second half as they shot just .303 from the field after intermission.
Paul Bunch led Emporia State with 12 points and added six rebounds and a career high seven blocked shots. He was joined in double figures by Kaleb Wright and Tre Boutilier with ten points each.
The Hornets are back in action on Saturday, Feb. 2 when they travel to Northwest Missouri. Tip-off from Bearcat Arena in Maryville, Mo. is set for 3:30 p.m.
NOTES:
The seven blocks by Bunch are the most by a Hornet since Marcellus Steide blocked nine against Washburn on Jan. 20, 1993.
