January 23, 2013-Emporia State shot .526 from behind the three point line in a 76-62 win over Missouri Southern on Wednesday night in White Auditorium. The win improved the Hornets to 8-7 overall and 3-4 in the MIAA.
The score was tied at 2-2 before the Hornets went on a 6-0 run to take the lead for good. A Kaleb Wright three-pointer gave Emporia State a 31-22 lead with 6:51 left in the half. Mo. Southern ended the half on a 12-5 run to pull within 36-34 at the intermission.
The Hornets opened the second half with a 10-0 run to take a 46-34 lead with 16:11 left in the game. The lead would not drop below nine points the rest of the way. Emporia State took their biggest lead of the night at 75-55 with 1:58 left in the game.
Wright led Emporia State with 19 points while Paul Bunch added 18 points and nine rebounds and Chris Sights joined them in double figures with 12 points. Taylor Euler had nine points and a career high seven assists.
The Hornets are back in action on Sunday when they play host to Central Oklahoma. Tip-off from White Auditorium is set for 3:30 p.m.
